A string of 28 School Science Centre spread over all districts of Assam was established in collaboration with the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Kolkata. School Science Centre is basically a programme and activity oriented permanent set up in schools with two pronged objectives
- School Science Programme, which envisages improvement of science education in schools by the process of learning and doing, and
- Community Science Programme through which it is intended to help rural community to apply method of science in their day to day life centering the School Science Centre.
Annual review meeting of the School Science Centres are held to monitor and assess the functioning and activities of these centres and regular visits are paid to each centre for activity assessment and guidance. A review meeting of the activities of the SSC was held at the School Science Centre, Teok High English School, Jorhat.
