Land use / Land Cover mapping of Deepar Beel Catchment

Background

This project is sponsored by the Notrth Eastern Space Applications Centre (Department of Space, Govt. of India), Shillong. The project involves preparation of the land use / land cover maps of the Deepar Beel catchment (digitally) at an interval of 5 years since 1985 till 2005 based on remotely sensed satellite data with level III classification. Integration of village map of the catchment, forest management and administrative boundary map, are kept as separate layer in digital mode for application in GIS.

Objectives

  • To prepare land use / land cover maps of the Deepar Beel catchment (digitally) at an interval of 5 years since 1985 till 2005 based on Remotely sensed satellite data, such as (i) IRS LISS II, (ii) IRS LISS III and (iii) Landsat TM.
  • To generate village map of the catchment.
  • To generate forest management and administrative boundary map.
  • To generate slope, aspect and contour maps for the entire catchment.

Activity

  • The project work is in progress.
