Council started the observation of National Science Day, National Technology Day, World Environment Day, Earth Day in Assam. The observations of these days have been sustained involving research, academic, NGOs and educational institutions of the state.
Council has been successfully taking up of the activities of National Children's Science Congress every year in Assam.
In setting up of 28 School Science Centres in remote areas of Assam and continuing it's activities.
In developing and inducting need based technologies like improved mild steel handloom for enhancing the productivity of local weavers.
In popularising mushroom cultivation in Assam as a means of self-employment avenues for youths.
In carrying out research works through the state academic and research institutes in the areas like Muga and initiate research in basic and applied sciences.
In starting solar radio observational and research facility in the Northeast region of India.
In inducting non-conventional energy gadgets in the urban, rural and remote areas of Assam and delivering the benefits of such systems to the people.
The council was awarded a prize by Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy Sources, Govt. of India for successful implementation of solar PV programme for 1995-96 in Assam.
In setting up of the Assam Bio-Resource Centre at Madan Kamdev.
In carrying out environmental impact studies and highlighting the issues among the people.
In carrying out remote sensing based projects of state and of national importance and linking them to developmental processes.
In organising the National Children's Science Congress 2004 in association with Cotton College, Guwahati.
In setting up of a Patent Information Centre in collaboration with Patent Facilitating Centre of TIFAC, DST, Govt. of India in providing Intellectual Property Right services to the people of the State.

In developing an Activity based Module for study of Microorganisms in collaboration with Botanical Hobby Centre, Department of Botany, Cotton College, Guwahati.
Council has been successful in acting as a forum for initiation and implementation of developmental process in Assam based on S&T application by linking S&T resources of the state with the national resources.
