National Children’s Science Congress

National Children's Science Congress (NCSC) is a nationwide Science Communication programme started in the year 1993. It is a programme of National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

It is a forum for children of the age-group of 10-17 years, both from formal school system as well as from out of school, to exhibit their creativity and innovativeness and more particularly their ability to solve a societal problem experienced locally using the method of science. A group of 2 children is formed. This group selects a local specific problem under the focal theme and finds a solution to the problem. The work is done under the supervision of a Guide Teacher. This programme inculcates the spirit of scientific study as well as analysing a problem scientifically.

This Council is the nodal agency for CSC in Assam. It is organised through the State Organising Committee. District Organising Committees are constituted for each district every year to conduct District Level Event of NCSC. District Level NCSC programmes have been organised in all the districts of Assam by the respective District Organising Committees. Based on merit 10 - 12 projects are selected in the District Level Event to present the project in the State Level Event from where a team of maximum 26 projects are selected to present at the National Level CSC..
